Coral Reef Ecology

Most people never get to experience the magic of a coral reef!

Students assist in using non-invasive methods to monitor coral coverage and coral health. Students use SCUBA and free-diving skills to conduct coral reef surveys and record their data in an online database. Students learn about coral reef ecology, types of corals, and the natural and human-related threats to their survival, including climate change. Students discuss their findings and present their work to their peers and staff biologists.
